Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a partnership between police and schools, a school can only join if the local police force has already joined Operation Encompass.

One of the principles of Operation Encompass is  that all incidents of domestic abuse are shared with schools, not just those where an offence can be identified.

Every school appoints a trained Key Adult  – the Key Adult is the person who receives information about police attending Domestic Abuse incidents.

The Key Adult in our school is Mrs Dawn Gallagher

The Key Adult will be notified prior to the start of the next school day that the police have attended an incident of domestic abuse. This timely information sharing  enables appropriate support to be provided for that child so that all interactions, from when the child first arrives at the school gates, are of a positive nature.

Parents and carers affected by Domestic Abuse can contact the school office and ask to speak with a Designated Safefeguarding Lead who can signpost them to organisations who will be able to offer support and advice.

One local organisation who can offer support and advice is Birmingham and Solihul Women's Aid. Call 0808 800 0028.   Further information can be found on their website: https://bswaid.org/

Through our PSHE curriculum, Jigaw we aim to equip children and young people with knowledge and skills which empower them. We believe that age-appropriate knowledge e.g. about puberty or relationships, coupled with personal skills of e.g. self-esteem, assertiveness and respect, and the understanding that their bodies
belong to them and they have the right of consent in all aspects of their lives, supports students to be safe. Further information about our PSHE curriculum is available on our Curriculum page.

Our Values

We are guided and strengthened by our distinctively Christian values of Hope, Courage, Love, Thankfulness, Trust and Forgiveness. These values were chosen by our school community by reflecting deeply on the meaning of 6 key stories from the Bible. These values are nurtured and lived by all in our school community as we continue to learn and grow together.
