Active Travel to School
At Moseley C of E Primary we encourage children and their families to travel to school in a sustainable way.
We are part of the Modeshift Stars scheme; a national schools awards scheme which promotes the benefits of active travel. In July 2020 our active travel plan was approved and we achieved our green accreditation.
Throughout 2021 -2022 we worked hard towards achieving our bronze accreditation in the Modeshift Stars scheme. We are thrilled that we have now achieved our Bronze Accreditation!
We participate in a number of initiatives that inspire our children to think about their journeys to school and we hope that this will help them to make healthy lifestyle choices in the future.
Some of the activities we take part in each year include:
- Living Streets Walk to School campaign where children earn badges for the active journeys to school they make.
- Road Safety week
- Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel We were thrilled to be 24th on the leaderboard out of 655 small primary schools taking part.
- Bikeability
- Scootability
We also work with our local Community Police Officers to learn more about how we can keep ourselves safer when we are actively travelling to and from school.
It is fantastic to see all of our children and families embracing this initiative and trying out different ways to travel to school sustainably.
